Ok, it has been a while since I have wrote but hey, I have been working hard.
I didn’t get the internship I wanted. My mom and I talked and I saw that I was too young for what they were looking for. However, now I am in line for another internship. This one close to my mothers work, yay. Unfortunately it isn’t paid. And my school charges $750 per internship (yay, nice I know…). The lady who I spoke with said she might be able to help me with that, she seems to really want to get me the job….
I think my mom and I are going to move to Bank of America. Not only has Mercantile not treated either of us very good but Bank of America lets people keep the change. Now if only I hadn’t of splurged on those Hello Kitty Checks…

I currently have a savings and checking account at Mercantile County Bank. However, after reading into the subject, I have found better interest rates online. I am currently interested in HSBC, ING, and E-trade. Does anyone have these accounts, and if so, do you find their service quality high?

Hello everyone. I am the stone broke student, a sophomore in college attempting to work out a financial fitness program that will keep my future bright. I will chart my progress in this blog, as well as provide interesting articles that I thought may be of interest. I take suggestions, so please feel free to comment on what needs improvement. Thank you. :3
As this is my first post for my financial blog, I guess I should establish where I stand now. As a product of a single-mother home with a net worth of less than $40,000, I feel it is important to begin working out a plan for my future. By going to college, I feel that I am making a big step in the right direction. I am double-majoring in Business (focus on Marketing) and Economics (focus on Finance) and working toward my Masters in Business Management. I am attempting to build a financial footing for not only me but my mother as well, who I love dearly. Ok….I guess that is enough set up, right? Well, moving on….
My first entry already has something awesome to report! Back in the fall, I went to my school’s (first ever!!) job fair. I saw a lot of companies that didn’t really spark my interest…but then I saw and met the Tessco team! I was really interested in the company but they did not have any opening for interns at that particular moment. However, they told me to post my resume on their website and when the summer came around, they would contact me if there were any internships available. Well, it has been months and they finally e-mail me (on my birthday no less, what an awesome gift!) about an internship open house. This internship open house was today and I loved it! They had positions for all the people that came and if I am a right fit for the company (and vise versa), I have the internship! I am so excited! No more cashier job for me!! I am trying not to get my hopes up but it is so hard. Today was such a great experience!!
Well, I am going to end here. Feel free to check out these other financial blog entries from other bloggers, they are really good:
Easy Change has a good article about the facts of moving back home, and the lack of shame that should come from it.
No Credit Needed has another good article about some great money saving programs that can help in the process of budgeting money.
